SMTP Protocols
SMTP Protocols are used to connect to e-mail based software
and have nothing to do with a web site.
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol lets you send e-mails from one server
to another where you’re able to receive the e-mails via an email software
program either using POP or IMAP4.
POP stands for Post Office Protocol and is used to retrieve email from
from your mail server to your email program.
IMAP4 stands for Internet Message Access Protocol and works like
the POP protocol but has some additional features like the ability to
search through e-mails..
This Protocol routes messages via the Internet to your mail server.
The mail server location could vary and is either part of your ISP
account or a third party e-mail account like Hotmail or Yahoo mail.
Some popular free e-mail programs today include Eudora and my
favorite Mozilla Firebird. You can do a Google search for other free
e-mail programs if you want to. You might also be able to find web
site software with a built in e-mail client. You also have options of using
the e-mail software your computer has installed and you can purchase
other qaulity e-mail software programs.
