Getting Started

Ready to build your own website? To get started you will need a domain name and some type of web hosting account.

The Domain Name.

The domain name is the most important part. I do suggest when looking for a domain name to have keywords included in the domain itself which will make it easier when ranking for the keyword in the search engine. If you are selling retail products and you want repeat Business via word of mouth stick with a proper alphabetic domain.  Avoid having numbers or hyphens in the domain if the domain with the correct spelling is not available.  For example if the domain you want starts with the word to but is not available then I suggest do not use the number 2? You may be wondering why not. If you are relying on word of mouth type of Business its easy for people to get confused when sharing your domain with this example the confusion could be with 2, the word to or the word number two so your potential customers may get confused on how to spell it.

If you are creating a website blog where you will be sharing information and your priority is to make money from the site  via advertising and affiliate products then your number 1 priority is to have the main keywords in the domain and in a case like this it may be ok to have the number 2 rather the word two. This of course is a decision you will need to make. The domain is very similar to a block of residential land. In both cases you have an address where you can be located. One is a street address the other being a web address. When you purchase your domain you will need to point the domain (by changing the dns settings via the control panel ) to your hosting package. Once you  upload your website to your hosting package when someone visits your website it automatically redirects and loads your website.

The Hosting Package.

The hosting package is a small portion on a hard drive you get allocated which is on a remote server that is connected to the web. Loads of options are available when you purchase your hosting package.
